Career
1973: The murder of William Young
William “Pooky,” a 19-year-old neighborhood drug dealer, was kidnapped and then shot to death in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood on February 26, 1973.
Hoover ordered his murder six days before he was named as one of three men accused of stealing money and drugs from the gang. Hoover was arrested along with Young’s killer, Black Disciple member Andrew Howard, on March 16, 1973.
Howard and Hoover were each charged with murder in November 1973 and sentenced to between 150 and 200 years imprisonment. Larry Hoover was sentenced to 150 to 200 years in prison at Stateville Correctional Center, Crest Hill, Illinois.
